The Ravenwood Faire will be held at the Frederick County Fairgrounds, 250 Fairground Road, Clear Brook, VA.  Ravenwood Faire is a themed venue aiming to provide the community a family friendly experience, consistent with our mission, reflective of the life and times of civilization around the world in the late medieval and high renaissance period of history. The venue success is dependent upon quality vendors, skilled artists and performers, volunteers, admissions, and effective marketing campaigns.  These rules have been designed to provide the best attendee experience.

These rules have been designed to provide an inviting family friendly experience, to further the mission of Ravenwood Faire and Ravenwood Foundation, and to comply with policy it is beholden to.  Failure to adhere to these rules may result in ejection from the premises and, where appropriate, referred to the proper authorities.

Alcoholic beverages purchased at the Ravenwood Faire in open containers must be consumed on premises. No outside alcohol is permitted inside the Faire, Fairgrounds, or parking lots. All guests are required to produce valid identification to purchase alcoholic beverages and no one under the age of 21 will be served.  Please drink responsibly.

Service animals are permitted. Service animals must remain on a leash or in a harness and under the control of the owner at all times.  We ask that you do not leave animals in your car or on the perimeter.  In such cases, the appropriate authorities will be notified.

All persons, bags, parcels, clothing and other items may be subject to screening/security checks within the Faire/Fairgrounds and at the entrance. We reserve the right to not allow any bag, parcel, or other item to be brought into the Faire/Fairgrounds Parking Lot, and to deal with any unattended object in such a way we consider appropriate.  We recommend you leave unnecessary articles in your vehicle and secure valuables in your trunk.

Only authorized vendors, performers, crafts people and volunteers are permitting to engage guests in approved activities within the fairgrounds or adjacent premises.  Please contact Ravenwood Faire in advance If you would like to get involved in this or future events.

Guests are asked to conduct themselves in a manner appropriate for a family-friendly venue.  We will strictly enforce a zero-tolerance policy towards unruly, disruptive or offensive behavior, failing to adhere to posted safety regulations, using profanity or abusive language (including symbols or gestures), appear intoxicated or under the influence of illegal substances, or exhibit any other illicit or belligerent behavior.

Proper attire is required for the duration of your visit.  In order to maintain an environment suitable for guests of all ages, clothing and shoes must be worn at all times. Clothing depicting rude, vulgar and otherwise offensive language or images is not permitted. Clothing in multiple layers is subject to search. We reserve the right to deny admission to or remove any person wearing attire that we consider inappropriate or attire that could distract from the experience of other guests.

Should you or a member of your party require medical assistance, please ask one of our Ravenwood Faire Staff members for assistance.

While the Ravenwood Faire is not responsible for lost and stolen items, we will do everything we can to help you recover your property.  For assistance, please ask one of our Ravenwood Faire staff members or check out our “Information Table” to see if your item has been turned in.

We ask parents and guardians to remain with small children at all times.  In the event you are separated from a person under your supervision, please contact the first available Ravenwood Faire staff member for assistance.  Ravenwood Faire also recommends designating a centrally located meeting place to gather if someone in your party gets lost.

Parking is permitted only in designated parking areas.  All parking is prohibited on rights-of-way or anywhere a parking area is not expressly designated.

As a condition of entering Ravenwood Faire, guests grant Ravenwood Faire/Ravenwood Foundation permission to be photographed, videotaped or otherwise recorded on premises without compensation of any kind.  We may photograph, film, videotape, record, or otherwise reproduce the image and/or voice of any person who enters the premises/fairgrounds and use the same for any purpose without payment or renumeration to any person.

The following activities are not allowed at Ravenwood Faire unless an approved application has been submitted to the administration prior to entry of faire:

  1. The sale of goods or services or the display of goods or services for sale by unapproved vendors of faire.
  2. The distribution of printed or recorded materials of any kind without prior approval of faire.
  3. Engaging with other guests or impeding the operation while posing as or portraying any character in costume without prior approval of faire.
  4. Unauthorized events, demonstrations or speeches, or the usage of any flag, banner or sign for commercial purposes, or to incite a crowd.
  5. Feeding any animals in the fairgrounds, including birds.
  6. Photography, videotaping, or recording of any kind for commercial purposes.
  7. Engaging in any unsafe act or other act that may impede the operation of the park or any associated facility.

The following items are not allowed within Ravenwood Faire:

  1. Recreational devices such as drones, or remote control toys are prohibited. Bicycles, skateboards, scooters, shoes with wheels, and rollerblades are not permitted on the premises.
  2. Suitcases and backpacks (with or without wheels) larger than 24” long x 15” wide x 18” high are not permitted. All allowed bags are subject to search (see “Bag Checks” above for details).
  3. Wheeled mobility devices with fewer than 3 wheels are not permitted.
  4. Selfie-sticks (hand-held extension poles for cameras and mobile devices) and large tripods are not allowed, see our “Commercial Photography” policy for details.
  5. Glass containers (excluding small containers such as baby food jars) are a possible hazard and are not permitted.
  6. Other items that we determine may be harmful or disruptive.

Restricted areas are off limits to attendees. Guests attempting to enter restricted areas will be escorted from the faire without refund.

The speed limit throughout the fairgrounds is 5 MPH.  Grounds volunteers and parking attendants will guide vehicles to designated entry, exit, and parking locations.

For the comfort of all guests, smoking of tobacco, cigars, vapes and other products that are not permitted at stages, arena, court, food and beverage lines, or in children’s areas.  Dedicated smoking areas are available and clearly marked for your convenience.

Please supervise your children at all times. Attendees under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a guest age 18 or older to enter the park.

Every participant has the responsibility to make sure that The Frederick County Fairgrounds and the surrounding areas, are maintained “trash free”.  This should be interpreted as meaning each person is responsible for their own trash and also for any trash that might be encountered while at the venue.  Trash should be deposited at designated receptacles.

  1. Knives, razor blades, weapons or objects of any kind capable of causing harm are strictly forbidden.
  2. All period-appropriate weaponry must be peace tied. See a Ravenwood Faire Staff or Security member for help peace tying your weapon at the gate.
  3. Weapons sold must be peace tied with plastic zip-ties by the vendor BEFORE they are handed over to the purchaser. Vendor should supply their own zip-ties. No weapons may be carried through the crowd unsecured.
  4. Weapons will not be sold to minors. All local, state and federal laws must be met.
  5. Firearms are not allowed on-site unless approved by and registered with Ravenwood Faire Security personnel.

Ravenwood Faire is committed to providing a safe environment. In addition to our Rules, guests are required to adhere to all local, state and federal laws and to follow any instructions provided by police, fire and medical personnel on the premises/ The Frederick County Fairgrounds.

  1. We reserve the right to deny admission, or to require a person already admitted to leave the park, without refund, liability or compensation if in our sole discretion we consider that the circumstances are warranted.
  2. Ravenwood Faire Rules and Regulations are subject to change without notice.

This event will occur rain or shine.  Ravenwood Faire reserves the right to shorten or cancel the event should severe weather occur.
